Injuries and Pain

back-pain1The back is a central part of the Alexander Technique. Alignment and balance are essential for a healthy body. Therefore the Alexander Technique can be readily applied to a wide variety of back problems:

  • Common neck and back pain

  • Frozen Shoulder

  • Tennis Elbow

  • Herniated Disc

  • Arthritis

Most of the time the reason for pain is impaired body use and poor coordination. Through reestablishing a new sense of balance, students find a way of moving that does not produce additional pressure and strain. In addition, proper use of the body will speed up the healing process and recovery. Through new and improved use many people will be able to go back to activities they had to abandon due to the injury.

The Alexander Technique will

  • Look at the movement patterns that created the injury in the first place

  • Create a dynamic relationship of moving body parts

  • Use spinal alignment as the foundation for movement

Most of all: It will put you in charge of the healing process. You will learn how to take care of yourself in a way that allows you to become less and less dependant on doctors, treatments and cures. Taking care of yourself in that way will give you a new sense of autonomy and independence.
